SOUTHERN GLOSSARY is a contemporary Southern art and photography platform.
There is a South unburdened by archetypes or stereotypes, full of art and enterprise. We promote and support talented artists, valuable art institutions, and the communities both serve. We are based in New Orleans.
The Southern Glossary Instagram account rotates curators each week. Artists from all over the region volunteer to share their visual art, photography, or documentary work. A Q&A with each artist is posted here on the site along with highlighted images.

Twice a year we publish a magazine collecting images from our contributing artists, along with essays and interviews. Issues are available in independent stores and online via print on-demand. View our back catalog here.

In June 2017, Southern Glossary published its first solo artist book in collaboration with photographer Kevin O'Mara, Used Photos. Our initial run of 100 copies was sold out within two months, including 20 limited edition hardcovers bound by Southern Letterpress.
We hope to continue to produce at least one solo artist book each year and are currently looking at projects for early 2018.
